SHOP. BLOG. GATHER.
Is it really 2016?! When did this happen guys? I like to look back at the past year and see the memories we’ve made. 2015 has been good to us.
A new year always feels like a new beginning, a fresh start, a time for change. I normally don’t make new year resolutions. They are often hard to keep and fade out. 2016 {for some reason} has inspired me to make resolutions!
I have decided on two:
#1 Read my Bible from start to finish.
I got a Journaling Bible for Christmas. It’s a Bible with a single column on each side for journaling, doodling, art, or taking notes as you engage in your Bible studies/devotions. I am hoping to accomplish this goal I’ve set. There’s not really a magnificent reason why I want to read it through. I feel like it will help me dig deeper in The Word and study the details more. I truly feel it will teach me lots and draw me closer to Jesus Christ. There’s always more to learn and room for improvement, right?
#2 Make healthier choices.
I love food. Good, southern, yummy food. If there was a salad and a plate of french fries in front of me…most days I would eat the french fries with glee. My schedule is so hectic between work and barn life, we often eat on the go and in a hurry. I’m hoping to improve my diet choices and learn more about nutrition this year. In no way am I stating that I’m going to eat “clean” and starve myself from the foods I love {not a chance}. I would like to make healthier choices in hopes that they become habits. I believe it makes us stronger mentally and physically.
I am excited to see where Southern Detour takes me in 2016. I am still navigating and deciding what path the blog is headed. My goal is to encourage you in your walk of faith, cherish your family, share fashion and beauty tips, motivate you to find your happiness, but most of all be real and be yourself. Each of us is so different and unique. We all have different circumstances and life experiences. I want Southern Detour to be a place to share my life events and real encounters with you, in hopes that you can relate and be inspired to laugh a little more, worry a little less and love with all your heart.
2015 has been a great year. I can’t wait to see what 2016 has in store. Do you have any resolutions you’d like to share? {Please do} Happy New Year, friends!
Love,
Fallon

That is a wonderful resolution. We can only take it one day at a time and keep our minds focused on what’s important! Good luck 🙂

Hey Fallon. Reading the Bible straight through was one of the best things I’ve ever done!
I am also trying the Cheat System diet which is used for losing weight but I think it’s just a good healthy way to live that helps balance cortisol which gets out of whack when we are busy and stressed. It focuses on eating unlimited healthy high nutritious foods and a limited amount of cheats per day (which are 100 calories each of anything else), plus healthy moderate exercise. It is designed to actually work with our normal lives when we are faced with challenges like French fries. 🙂 It seems like a good way to balance out the good and the bad. I just started last week and so far so good.
Happy New Year!
